ASME A-106/A-106M Markings verification

ASME A-106/A-106M Markings verification

  • ASME SA-106/SA-106M-2019 - Production Marking - Section 25
  • ASME SA-530/SA-530M-2019 - production Marking - Section 24

Each length of pipe shall be legibly marked with (eg.)

  • The manufacturer's name or brand: BCK.
  • The specification number: ASME SA-106/SA-106M.
  • Grade: B.
  • Heat number: 3-35727.
  • ASME SA-106/SA-106M - Table 4: NDE/2500 PSI.
  • The length: 6000 MM.
  • The OD: NPS 3".
  • The Schedule: SCH XXS.
  • The weight: not applicable for NPS 3".
  • Supplementary: not applicable.

Note:

  • This material do not cover welded pipe, see Section 1.1 of ASME SA-106/SA-106B.
  • NPS 4" and larger shall marked weight class.
  • Production analysis shall be made on the representative two pipes from each lot, see Section 9.1 of ASME SA-106/SA-106M.

Dimensional and visual inspection

  • Forming/dimension/masses:  ASME B36.10M - 2018; ASME SA-530/SA-530M - Table X1
  • Tolerance: ASMESA-530/SA-530M - Section 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 - Table 1, 2, 3

Transfer markings, Guide to transfer markings information to a shorter length:

  • Step 1: Verify MTC and pipe section are matched, dimensional / visual inspection for each pipe.
  • Step 2: Transfer original markings to cut off length (unmarked cut length) by paint marker
  • Step 3: Stamp "processor's name or trademark, brand (for resale) on both pipe segment.
  • Step 4: Shot photo of the original markings and new transfer identification for preparing a report, photo report should minimum show all production markings, processor's identification, buyer name, date, signature, ... and attachment the MTC.
  • Step 5: Cut the shorter length for resale by processor.

Coded markings

  • Coded marking: Pxxxx - Pipe.
  • Die stamp may be stamped on the thickness with T>= 6mm for carbon steel and  T>= 12 mm for stainless steel unless otherwise by supplementary requirements.
  • Piping process fabrication may not required die stamp on the off-cut length.

End beveling preparations

  • Accordance with the approved WPS.
  • ASME B16.25 2017 - Fig. 1 through Fig. 6.

Storage pipe material

  • Keep pipe material in dry area, keep away wet condition.
  • All end pipes shall be protected by plastic covers.

Giám sát hàn

(Hình ảnh chụp tại nhà máy CNI - Nhơn Trạch) I. NÊN HỌC CSWIP KHÔNG? BẮT ĐẦU TỪ ĐÂU? Khi bắt đầu tìm hiểu về chứng chỉ CSWIP (Certification Scheme for Welding and Inspection Personnel), rất nhiều người đặt câu hỏi: "Tôi có nên học CSWIP không?" Câu trả lời không phụ thuộc vào xu hướng mà nằm ở định hướng nghề nghiệp, kiến thức, kỹ năng và kinh nghiệm thực tế của chính bạn. 1.

AWS D1.1 2015 edition – Tolerance of joint details – Visual inspection

🔧 1. Joint Detail and Fit-Up Tolerances in WPS 🔹 Clause 5.21.4.1 – Fit-Up Tolerance Requirements Fit-up tolerances for groove weld assemblies are critical and must be addressed in the WPS. Refer to: Figure 5.3 a, b, c – Different fit-up types (with/without backing, with/without backgouging) Tolerance parameters include : Root opening (often ±1.6 mm / ±1/16 in.) Root face Groove angle Alignment/mismatch (hi-lo) ⚠️ Out-of-tolerance fit-up (e.g., root opening > 20 mm) is not allowed unless qualified by a PQR — especially for PJP groove welds , where excessive root gap is a nonessential variable turning essential . 📐 2. Essential Variables in WPS (Clause 4 and Table 4.5) ✅ Table 4.5, Line 31 – Groove Type Change in groove type (e.g., single-V → double-V) requires requalification , unless: It’s a CJP groove weld meeting Clause 3.12, 3.13 (prequalified) or Clause 9.10, 9.11 (tubular connections). Then, any groove detail conforming to those figures (e....

11 steps to prepare a hydrotest package

🧪 Hydrostatic Test Package Preparation Guide Inspection Point in ITP – QA/QC Controlled Document 🔧 General Requirements Hydrostatic testing is an essential inspection activity listed in the Inspection and Test Plan (ITP) . Before performing a hydrotest, the following conditions must be fulfilled : The hydrotest procedure has been approved by the client and/or consultant. All welding activities within the test boundary must be completed and inspected by all parties. Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) must be performed according to the project specification, with acceptable results . All relevant documentation must be collected for inclusion in the test package . 📦 11 Steps to Prepare a Hydrotest Package 1. Cover Page Include project name, client, contractor, system name, line class, and test type. A sample form can be customized to suit your project format. 2. Content Sheet Provides a summary index of documents included. Pre-fill standard informatio...
